Learning, Growing, Perfecting my Craft

Doing hair and makeup is not only my career, but it is also a platform to creatively express myself. I've found that in order to continue to grow in success it is also important toapproach my art with humility and an open mind. As a professional makeup artist it is imperative to not only be skilled at creating looks, but being equally skilled and following directions, and being responsive to creative direction and constructive criticism. By paying close attention to every detail, having a cheery disposition and treating every project like it is the most important you can easily become your client's/employer's favorite MUA to work with. Much like every job there are a few things that a Hair/Makeup Artist must never forget...

  1. Be prepared (make sure your kit has anything you could possibly need)
  2. Make sure your tools are sanitized and organized
  3. Build your kit with professional quality products and tools
  4. Listen carefully and ask questions to make sure you understand the directions
  5. Be positive, eager, and easy to work with
  6. Try to connect with the people you are working with/for
  7. Work swiftly but DO NOT rush any job
  8. Stay focused while on the job
  9. Anticipate/and be prepared for any reaction to your work
  10. Your appearance does matter be mindful of how you present yourself
  11. ALWAYS NETWORK and make new relationships
  12. NEVER STOP LEARNING ABOUT YOUR CRAFT
